Essa ideia, denominada hip\u00f3tese da Mata Atl\u00e2ntida, contradiz a popular\u00a0hip\u00f3tese dos ref\u00fagios, que prev\u00ea a contra\u00e7\u00e3o e fragmenta\u00e7\u00e3o de florestas e a forma\u00e7\u00e3o de ref\u00fagios nesse mesmo per\u00edodo.
